One of County Waterford’s best traditional bakeries is Barron’s Bakery and Coffee House in Cappoquin. All of Barron’s breads and blaas are baked in an old-fashioned brick oven. The brick’s ability to retain heat results in a more uniform bake, giving the bread plenty of time to rise and ferment. The end result is pure bliss.
The charming café and bread counter are piled high with breads, cakes, tarts, gateaux, and other delectable treats. A straightforward menu is always on the counter. Fresh soup is constantly available. Along with salad and a selection of sandwiches and filled blaas, you can discover home-made hot main dishes including chicken pie, bacon pie, and courgette quiche.
The delectable Barron’s bread and butter pudding, pear and almond pie, apple strudel made in the continental manner, or any of the buns and pastries on exhibit are among the sweets. You won’t be able to resist purchasing some buns, a cake, and most definitely some of the bakery’s bread to take home after enjoying them with a cup of tea or coffee.
