Address: 78 S Mall, Centre, Cork, T12 K7CT

In 2012, the original Bookshelf first opened its doors in the converted old Cork Library, South Mall. This characterful venue is still beloved by locals and still serves the best coffee in the area, sourced by the award-winning The Barn, Berlin.

Buzzy and packed with quirky local art, it’s always welcoming whether you’re grabbing a quick takeaway, enjoying a bite with friends, or curling up by the window with a good coffee and a book. There is a wide selection of delicious food options from Granola bowls, to Belgian waffles, french toast, avocado hummus, and much more.

The Bookshelf Coffee House Reviews:

I highly recommend this restaurant. It is very valuable for money. I am very grateful to Marc, the waiter who attended to me since he was very kind and thoughtful to provide the best quality at my lunch time. Also, the food is delicious, I really enjoyed trying the different flavors and textures. I have been there once and I can not wait to come back and try every different option. – Virginia G

The blonde girl and the funky guy are so kind and they were so friendly. The funky guy is so good at latte art he is my inspiration. The blonde girl made me some delicious food. I 100% recommend it. Gobbled it all up. – Úna R

Really good creamy coffee, came at a busy enough time and the staff was still lovely and accommodating as always, have some cool specialty drinks as well, which they were out of today, but will definitely be back to try. – Aisling T

Scones were super moist and come with butter and fresh raspberry jam. Raspberry or dried fruit scone options. Oat milk flat white was also great. Would come again! There’s a toilet for customer use too. – Audrey F

One of my local favorites. The staff is pleasant and nice! All of them are into their coffees and when asking for recommendations they are extremely helpful and have great knowledge. Do you need help with your brewing? Ask the staff for some tips and tricks. – Louis T

A wonderful place for breakfast and coffee. We were in Cork for 4 days and we came here every day. The coffee is one of the best that I have had in a long time. Their homemade porridge is also delicious. You can buy coffee beans there, they also sell and make their own peanut butter, coffee soap, and travel mugs. Almost be a 5-star if it was not for the French toast. It cost 13 euro and you get one slice. This would not deter me from revisiting however I would not order the toast again. – Martin K
